Bellevue Society for the Arts
BELLEVUE - Live theater productions, small town charm
The Bellevue Society for the Arts was founded in 1994, after a community survey showed that citizens desired a theatre center. The BSA performed its shows at various locations while searching for the right location for the facility. A few years later, the property housing the former Scagnetti Concrete Mixing plant was donated, plans were drawn, and building began. The Hirt Theater was dedicated in 2003, and major productions began. The theatre seats 342, with state-of-the-art lighting and sound, and a backstage work area for set and prop construction.
The adjacent lobby, with full kitchen, is equipped for dinner theatre productions, receptions, parties, recitals, and meetings, seating 200 guests at tables of eight. The School of the Arts studio building on the property hosts piano, vocal, violin, guitar, and band instrument lessons, and contains an extensive costume shop. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, run by volunteers, and supported by the generous philanthropic contributions of individuals, foundations, and corporations.
